Ray Bradbury's Films

Ray Bradbury has played a prevelant role in American cinema. Not only has he written books and stories that have been adapted for movies, but he has written many produced and unproduced screenplays as well as books about Hollywood. Below is a bibliography of them, and a few even have pages for which I have written reviews.

Beast From 20,000 Fathoms (1952) -- based loosely on his short story "The Foghorn"
It Came From Outer Space (1953) -- Based loosely on his short story
Moby Dick (1956) -- screenplay for John Huston. based on Herman Melville's novel.

The Dreamers (1958) -- Based on the novel by Roger Manvell.

King of Kings (1961) -- MGM. Ray Bradbury wrote only the voice-over narration and received no screen credit. dir. John Huston

Icarus Montgolfier Wright (1962) -- short film based on his short story. Format Films.
American Journey (1964) -- screenplay. shown in the US Government Pavillion at the 1964 World's Fair.

Any Friend of Nicholas Nickleby is a Friend of Mine (1981) -- screenplay and based on his short story.
The Story of the Writer (1963) -- Learning aid film for students. Originally presented on KCOP TV of Los Angeles as a documentary about Ray Bradbury's life and work. Directed by Terry Sanders.
Little Nemo in Slumberland (1981?) -- unproduced screenplay, based on the Winsor McKay cartoon character.
Something Wicked This Way Comes (1983) -- screenplay, and based on his novel.
Quest (1983) -- screenplay, and based on his short story "Frost and Fire"
Ray Bradbury: An American Icon (1997) -- Originally presented on the Sci-Fi Network program Masters of Fantasy, this documentary about Ray Bradbury's life is available on home video.
Fahrenheit 451 (2002?) -- based on his novel. Directed/produced by Mel Gibson.
The Martian Chronicles (2002?) -- based on his novel.
